ABOUT YOUR CORNERMAN:
ADELEINA LOTO MELEISEA
Founder and Director
I founded Cornerman Sports Advisory with a clear vision: to elevate sports organisations across New Zealand, the Pacific, and beyond by leveraging my expertise in management, law, and governance. My mission is to drive the growth of sports regulation and business, empowering passionate sportspeople and organisations to reach their full potential on both local and global stages.
With a background as a Senior Solicitor at Auckland Disability Law Centre, consulting for the New Zealand Mixed Martial Arts Federation, and over 15 years in rugby league management and governance, I’ve gained a deep insight into the intersection between grassroots sports and the global sports landscape.
As a Director on the board for Counties Manukau Rugby League and a trustee for Sistema Aotearoa Trust, I am committed to building connections that unite local passion with global investment and partnership opportunities.
My dedication to advancing the sports industry was recognised by the Australian and New Zealand Sports Law Association with the 2023 Sports Law Scholarship, underscoring the impact and potential of CORNERMAN to shape the future of sports.
BEHIND THE NAME
CORNERMAN SPORTS ADVISORY
In a fight, the cornerman might be the most influential person besides the fighter.
A fighter's cornerman can guide them towards a higher chance of victory or can serve as a barrier to their success.
There are three ways that a corner can affect the outcome of a fight.
These reflect the core values we live by at Cornerman Sports Advisory.

EXPERTISEThe corner's job is to know their fighter's weaknesses and the opponent’s strengths. The corner uses that knowledge to evaluate the situation and expertly guide their fighter toward higher odds of success.

PERSPECTIVEThe corner has a perspective of the fight that the fighter does not have. They clock opportunities and risks from angles the fighter cannot see. The corner uses that insight, combined with their expertise to guide their fighter toward higher odds of success.

COMMUNICATIONExpertise and perspective only matter if the corner gets that information to their fighter when it matters most. Be it affirming, encouraging, tough, or assertive, detailed breakdowns or targeted pockets of information, a good corner adapts their communication style to guide their fighter toward higher odds of success.
